Soviet Era Aircraft at the Southern Museum of Flight

Presented by Southern Museum of Flight at Southern Museum of Flight

The Southern Museum of Flight recently acquired two Soviet-era aircraft – the Mi-24 Hind and the An-2 Colt. The aircraft arrived on April 10th, 2012 and the Hind is now on display. Our guests have a rare opportunity to see our restoration experts in work as the Hind is reassembled and restored in the South Wing. The Mi-24 is one of the most iconic relics of the Soviet war in Afghanistan. This multipurpose helicopter was designed as a helicopter gunship for attack purposes, as well as for low-capacity troop transport. It will serve as a focal point for the new Cold War Era Exhibit in the museum’s South Wing. The exhibit will be under development over the next year. Stay tuned for more details!
