Alabama Charcoal is Space One Eleven’s rigorous studio art and portfolio development program for high school students of all skill levels.
Students learn and strengthen foundation skills and explore individually conceived projects in a wide variety of mediums. SOE’s philosophy is to facilitate the needs of students on a concept by concept basis, providing an environment in which young artists can learn, create, explore, and forge their own path into the world of art. Writing mentors assist students in the development of artist statements.
Alabama Charcoal offers a portfolio development component for high school seniors that is designed to increase students’ college or career opportunities by building visual arts portfolios. Professional artists, designers and writers lead workshops, critiques, and portfolio assessments; and assist with college applications, admission essays,
and scholarship research.
