Visual Ecology with Doug Baulos: Fugitive Nests & Shelters

Visual Ecology with Doug Baulos: Fugitive Nests & Shelters

Presented by Ruffner Mountain Nature Preserve at Ruffner Mountain Nature Center

Participants will be led on a short hike to collect objects from the natural environment (nothing may be broken or picked from any living thing—only lying or resting objects) under the supervision of the two teachers. Each person keeps their object hidden from all other workshop attendees. After the hike, each person is given the opportunity to build a small nest shelter for his or her new “nature friend”. They come up with a name, and a way to care for and protect the friend as if it was still in a natural environment. There will be a guided meditation journaling module within the project.
