Musical Service of Remembrance

Presented by American Guild of Organists, Birmingham Chapter at Highlands United Methodist Church

The Birmingham Chapter of the American Guild of Organists will commemorate a day of great importance to our country—September 11. Organist Patrick Scott, a graduate of Birmingham-Southern College and winner of both the First Prize and Audience Prize in the 2014 AGO National Competition in Organ Improvisation, will lead a Service of Remembrance in memory of those who lost their lives on that tragic day. This uplifting service will feature works by Copland, Franck, and Elgar, as well as the singing of many hymns from different traditions. There will also be a thrilling, large-scale organ improvisation by Dr. Scott combining together various themes of that tragic day into a beautiful musical tribute.
