The Beautiful (Roma) Children” and Modern Slavery: A Discussion of Human Trafficking

The Birmingham Civil Rights Institute (BCRI) has partnered with UAB Human Rights Institute and The Wellhouse to present “The Beautiful (Roma) Children” and Modern Slavery: A Discussion of Human Trafficking on Thursday, September 17, 2015 at 6 pm.  The discussion, which takes place in BCRI’s Woods Community Meeting Room, is held in conjunction with” Let Us Now Praise the Roma” Photo Exhibition by Karen Graffeo.  Panelists for the event include Karen Graffeo, “Roma” exhibition photographer; General Charles Krulack, Human Rights First; Special Agent Cornelius Harris, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Birmingham Division; and Carolyn Potter, Executive Director, The Wellhouse. The talk will discuss trafficking as a global health issue, with a focus on the Roma people and the U.S., as well as local community efforts to address human trafficking.
