Presented by Alabama School of Fine Arts and Sloss Furnaces National Historic Landmark at Sloss Furnaces

This is the second in a series of master-planning workshops to discuss planning a new arts/tech hub at Sloss Furnaces.

SPARK@SLOSS is a Birmingham Mayoral Initiative to create a master plan funded by a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts to explore the development of a world class multi-disciplinary arts and tech master residency hub at Sloss Furnaces. 

There will be short presentations by:
Karen Utz, Curator at Sloss
Mustafa Abdullah, Artist/Welder
Art Meadows, Automation & Robotics Technical Specialist
Abidin Yildirim, Assistant Professor | School of Engineering, UAB

Keiah Shauku, IT Bootcamps
Nancy Wilson, Robotics, Lawson State

Afterwards the audience will split into a Fire Arts group and a Tech/Robotics group to discuss residency programs, workforce development and ideas for implementing an arts/tech hub at Sloss Furnaces.
