Transparent Homeland is a documentary series focused on immigrants living in the United States with an aim of creating awareness and cultivating discussion, specifically geared toward the exchange of ideas and beliefs in Birmingham.
What is it like to live as an immigrant in America today? Come find out, where the stories of 18 immigrants will be presented at The Phoenix Building Lofts.
The city of Birmingham is so incredibly diverse. We seek to provide an engaging space that is created for the exchanging of diverse ideas and cultures.
What To Expect:
– A 7-minute documentary viewing
– Portrait and art display of immigrants from Japan, Kenya, Brazil, and more.
– Interactive audio room for visitors to record their own stories of life in America
– Music and refreshments
In light of recent discussions and events centering around immigration, Transparent seeks to add to the national dialogue by providing the opportunity to read and listen to the personal stories of those from other countries.
