Trauma Sensitive Training

Trauma Sensitive Training

Presented by Sweet Om Alabama at The Dance Foundation

Trauma Sensitive Yoga was founded by David Emerson in 2002 as a program that assess the utility and feasibility of yoga for adults with treatment-resistant PTSD.

Mr. Emerson has developed, conducted, and supervised Trauma Sensitive Yoga groups for rape crisis centers, domestic violence programs, residential programs for youth, military bases, survivors of terrorism, and Veterans Administration centers and clinics.

Leading the course for this weekend workshop will be Jennifer Turner, LMHC, RYT. Along with working in private practice as a trauma-informed therapist, Ms. Turner has been leading Trauma Center Trauma Sensitive Yoga classes for women at the Trauma Center since 2008 where she also oversees the on sight teaching team. She taught the yoga classes for the NIH funded research study looking into the effects of TCTSY on treatment-resistant PTSD during which she contributed to the development of the protocol. Ms. Turner is a lead TCTSY trainer and supervises students in the TCTSY certification program.

The mission of the Trauma Center is to help individuals, families and communities that have been impacted by trauma and adversity to re-establish a sense of safety and predictability in the world, and to provide them with state-of-the-art therapeutic care as they reclaim, rebuild, and renew their lives.
