This course introduces current energy trends, required codes, and sustainability rating systems across the U.S. and the role of ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager, ASHRAE 189, IgCC, and LEED. This session was recorded by the Sustainability Experts at Green Building Services, about current energy performance reporting trends including federal and municipal codes and guidelines.

12:00 Lunch served (please contact elizabeth@eco-three.com by October 7 if you have any special dietary needs)

12:30 – 1:30 “Demystifying the Energy Codes”

This presentation provides an overview of the differences between the prescriptive and performance energy requirements for commercial buildings. Using examples from the International Green Construction Code, IECC, ASHRAE 90.1, trends in Massachusetts and throughout the U.S. are used as examples. “Stretch Code” and LEED performance requirements are also presented to help participants learn how to determine which energy codes your project must comply with. A representative from ADECA will be on hand to answer questions related to Alabama Energy Code developments.

Lunch will be provided thanks to support from our sponsors, EcoThree and Nick Daviston Insulation. This event is FREE* for Alabama Chapter Members, $15 each for Non-Members. This session is approved for 1 GBCI CEU for LEED APs and GAs. Certificates of participation will be issued to architects and engineers who chose to self-report for other credential programs.
