UAB Darwin Day, held on Feb 8, 2018, will include a talk by famed paleoanthropologist Genevieve von Petzinger, as well as a scientific poster session and an art exhibition.
UAB presents Darwin Day 2018, a celebration of the advancement of science, education, and human well-being. ALL EVENTS ARE FREE AND OPEN TO THE PUBLIC.
Genevieve von Petzinger will present the keynote lecture titled \”From Cave Walls to Web Pages: The Power of Communication to Change the World.\” Von Petzinger is a paleoanthropologist who\’s research focuses on cave art painted by early humans between 10,000-40,000 years ago. Her work has been widely featured in national and international media outlets and academic publications. Von Petzinger\’s TED talk about Ice Age signs has been watched almost 4 million times.
Other Darwin Day events include an art exhibition, \”One Drop at a Time\”, exploring the habitat and ecology of Manitou Cave of Alabama, as well as a student scientific poster session that will display the research of undergraduate and graduate students.
