With an 18 square block footprint, officially defined as 2nd Ave. N to Rev. Abraham Woods Blvd., 15thSt. N to 18th St. N, Urban Impact, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, advances asset building, economic opportunity and revitalization through support services to assist individuals, businesses and developers. Drawing upon the rich legacy and heritage of the Civil Rights District and preceding 4th Avenue Historic Business District, we strive to be forward-thinking civic innovators within the space of community-based economic development. Governed by a board of directors that is 51% comprised of our service community, our governing philosophy is “equitable development”, a term that describes “an approach to creating healthy, vibrant, communities of opportunity,” according to PolicyLink. “Equitable outcomes come about when smart, intentional strategies are put in place to ensure that everyone can participate in and benefit from decisions that shape their neighborhoods and regions.” As our logo suggests, we intend to be a destination district!
