Sunday Hike Series: High Ore Line Trail

Sunday Hike Series: High Ore Line Trail

Presented by Freshwater Land Trust at High Ore Line Trail - parking at Jefferson County Department of Health's Western Health Center

Join us for our Spring 2018 Sunday Hike Series! Our guided hikes are free and great opportunities to explore new outdoor places throughout Central Alabama.

No registration required. Dogs welcome on leashes. In case of bad weather, we’ll update you on Facebook before noon on the day of the hike.

In March, we’ll be walking the High Ore Line Trail. Spanning two miles from Midfield to Wenonah Road near Red Mountain, the High Ore Line Trail opened in May 2016 and occupies a raised railroad line. The beautiful urban trail connects west Birmingham to Midfield and passes over Valley Creek with a glimpse of Red Mountain Park – to which the trail will soon be connected!

Hike details: We will complete the 3.8 mile round trip, but you are welcome to turn around earlier for a shorter hike. Please wear comfortable shoes and bring water.

Parking: Jefferson County Department of Health‘s Western Health Center: 631 Bessemer Super Highway, Birmingham, AL 35228
