Music4Romania is proud to sponsor a lecture on Ligeti and Romanian folklore, presented by Dr. Bianca Tiplea Temes. The event is FREE and open to the public.

Dr. Bianca Ţiplea Temeş is a musicologist and Reader at Gh. Dima Music Academy in Cluj-Napoca, Romania. She holds two doctorates in music – from the University of Music in Bucharest, Romania (2002) and the Universidad de Oviedo, Spain (2015)- and also an MBA degree in business management from Babeş-Bolyai University, in Cluj-Napoca, Romania. Dr. Tiplea’s books have been published in Romania, the most recent being “Seeing Sound, Hearing Images,” edited in Cluj with musicologist Nicholas Cook at MediaMusica; her scholarly articles have appeared in leading journals in Switzerland, Spain, Lithuania, the Czech Republic, Belgium, Romania, and the U.S. (at Routledge). Dr. Tiplea has participated in many conferences organized by prestigious institutions such as the University of Cambridge, Universität der Künste Berlin, Université Paris-Sorbonne, IRCAM Paris, Conservatorio di Musica Santa Cecilia Rome, University of Chicago, and The City University of New York, among others. Since 2010 she has been a visiting professor at various institutions including Universidad de Oviedo, Istituto Mascagni in Livorno, Paderewski Music Academy in Poznań, University College Dublin, and Universidad Complutense in Madrid. Dr. Tiplea was awarded several Erasmus grants to study at the University of Cambridge/U.K. (where she was also Visiting Scholar in March 2017), two DAAD Scholarships in Berlin and recently in Hamburg, and a research grant from the Paul Sacher Foundation, where she explored the Ligeti collection. In 2016, Dr. Tiplea became the founder and the director of the Festival “A Tribute to György Ligeti in his Native Transylvania.”
