Free Day of Mindfulness on the Art of Mindful Living taught by Zen Monastics

Presented by Birmingham Civil Rights Institute at Birmingham Civil Rights Institute

This Day of Mindfulness will offer instruction on the Art of Mindful Living in the tradition of Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh. This event is lead by the monks and nuns of Magnolia Grove Monastery and Meditation Practice Center In Batesville, MS.

The day-long retreat includes teachings, public walking meditation at Kelly Ingram Park, eating meditation, deep relaxation, and a question and answer session with the monastics.

You must bring your own vegan lunch and drink. Please also bring a yoga mat and a cushion or meditation stool. Chairs will be provided as needed. Bring an umbrella or raincoat if rain is expected.

This is a free event with a suggested donation ($20-$50) to the Monastery upon registration.

Space is limited. Please register in a timely manner.

If you are unable to make the day-long event, please join us for the public walking meditation at 10 am in Kelly Ingram Park adjacent to the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute. Walking meditation instruction will be offered by the monastics and then the group will flow together as a river, through the park in silence, offering our steps to offer mindfulness, peace, and joy.
