Hear local poets perform work inspired by pieces in Space One Eleven’s Women with their Work II exhibition.
Leonardo da Vinci said, “Painting is poetry that is seen rather than felt, and poetry is painting that is felt rather than seen.”
Join us at Space One Eleven for an elucidative poetic experience as we close the Women with their Work II exhibition with a mash up with local poets. Often when visiting exhibits, it’s difficult to interpret the message that the artist is sharing in their work; therefore, we invite you to come and pause at the work of artists Anna Campbell from Grand Rapids, Stacy Lynn Waddell of Chapel Hill, and UAB Assistant Professor of New Media, Elisabeth Pellathy who are reflecting on themes of identity. Hear from local poets Beth Bradley, Salaam Green, BeShaun “Shaun Judah” Leavell, Queenz, and Laura Secord as they engage you with their interpretation of the works in the exhibition, with a discussion led by T. Marie King.
This event is free and open to the public.
