Spring Valley School’s humanitarian project will feed 10,000 children!
Spring Valley School will host its second Feed the Need event on Dec. 10. In addition to helping expand their unique educational mission, this event is an opportunity for the students to serve together as they pack, seal and box more than 10,000 meals to be shipped to hungry children.
Some 8,500 of those will go to a third-world country, while 1,500 will stay in the Birmingham area to feed hungry children in our community. This event raised more than $150,000 this past year.
Spring Valley School is a sanctuary for students in second through 12th grades who struggle to learn in traditional settings. The students’ successes come as a result of very low student-teacher ratios, coupled with first-rate teachers who offer an individualized, state-approved college preparatory curriculum. Spring Valley empowers each student to successfully demonstrate academic abilities and talents. The impact of such success on esteem and confidence cannot be underestimated, and many parents have referred to the school as “life saving.”
Supporting this event will enable Spring Valley School to grow their mission of serving extraordinary learners and make a deep impact in the lives of students who may otherwise struggle to succeed in a traditional setting.
The project is called Feed the Need: Anything is Possible. Packing begins at 11 a.m. and ends at 3 p.m. at Spring Valley School. A big crowd is expected to help assemble the meals at the school.
