Every year on the third Saturday in June, Friends of the Locust Fork River hosts Kids’ Day on the River (KDOR), a fun-filled, activity-packed, completely FREE day-long summertime event for children in grades 2-6 and their families, including a free lunch.

Located on the banks of the beautiful Locust Fork River in Blount County, Alabama, KDOR gives kids hands-on experience with the river, while exploring its creatures, natural elements, and, of course, its water! FLFR has organized this event for 18 consecutive years.

In 2008, KDOR received the BEEP Award (Best Environmental Education Programs) from the Environmental Education Association of Alabama.
