Walk on a rails-to-trails conversion route on an old railroad right of way.  This smooth trail is wide and level.  No hills!  This finely-crushed rock surface trail goes through mostly wooded terrain.

No motorized vehicles are allowed on the trail!  This outing should be lots of fun for everyone.  Well-behaved, carefully supervised children age seven and up able to walk four miles without complaining are welcome on this walk.

DIRECTIONS TO MEETING PLACE
Black Creek Park, Yarbrough Road, Fultondale, Alabama 35068. From interchange of I-20/I-59 and I-65 in downtown Birmingham (also known as malfunction junction) take I-65 North towards Huntsville 6.6 miles to exit 267 Walkers Chapel Road in Fultondale. Exit I-65 at this exit #267. At end of ramp turn right on Walkers Chapel Road and drive 7/10 miles to traffic light at U.S. 31. Drive straight across U.S. 31. Road becomes Carson Road North. Continue on Carson Road North after U.S. 31 intersection for 8/10 more miles and turn left on Yarbrough Road. See Black Creek Park on your left. Pull into parking lot for the park and meet your hike leader there.

DESCRIPTION OF SOUTHEASTERN OUTINGS

Do you wish you had friends who share your active lifestyle and enjoyment of outdoor activities?  Then become active with Southeastern Outings (SEO), a nonprofit organization committed and created to serve people who enjoy being active in the outdoors.  The organization plans, organizes and leads outings such as dayhikes, easy kayak and canoe trips, stream and waterfall walks, bicycle rides, lake events and other fun activities to beautiful sites in our natural environment.  From time to time we also sponsor potluck suppers and other socials.  All events and activities of the group are open to the public.  Participating in SEO activities is a splendid, simple way to make congenial new friends who enjoy the outdoors.

The organization currently has over 250 members.  We scheduled eighty events during calendar year 2017 for an average of 7 fun events per month.  We enjoy the outdoors in all seasons throughout the year.  Fifteen  people on average have participated in each outing since January 1, 2018.
