Ying Kit Chan continues to examine environmental ethics, a philosophical study of the moral relationship between human beings and nature and the value that society extends to the environment. Addressing environmental issues has remained a reoccurring theme in the over three decades in which Chan has been producing artwork. By utilizing a wide range of mediums, yet focusing on common recycled materials, Chan employs the Deep Ecology philosophy as well as Taoist and Buddhist ideologies in an effort to examine the relationship between human beings and nature. This work manifests the mental effect of contemplation, as well as the impact of physical actions which result in degradation of the earth.
