The City of Cullman, Alabama was founded by, and named after, a German immigrant, Johann Cullmann. The residents of Cullman and the surrounding area are very proud of their German heritage, so it isn’t surprising that every year Cullman Oktoberfest is easily considered the areas largest and most anticipated event of the year.
Each year, during the first week in October, senior citizens and school children alike come together to enjoy Oktoberfest activities such as: a wiener dog race, an arts and crafts show, wagon rides, a kids’ fun area, multiple stage events, a Biergarten, a classic car show, featuring German cars, numerous contests, Historical tours, a quilt show and much, much more. Over the years, events and sponsors change, but one thing remain constant: we will always take pride in celebrating Cullman’s German heritage.
Events that are held at the Festhalle and the Cullman County Museum and are sponsored by the Cullman Oktoberfest Board are usually free admission to attend. Events that are sponsored by other organizations, may have an admission fee.
