The Red Mountain Reading Series presents a reading and workshop by Max Everhart. Everhart is the author of the Eli Sharpe mystery series including Go Go Gato, Split to Splinters (#2), and Ed, Not Eddie (#3). Split to Splinters was a finalist for the Shamus Award in the Best P.I. Original Paperback category in 2016. His other books are Alphabet Land, a crime thriller featuring a “problem-solver” known only as The Rook, and All the Different Ways Love Can Feel, a short story collection. His fiction has won or been nominated for Best of the Net, AWP Intro Journals Award, Glimmer Train’s New Writer Award, and the Pushcart Prize. His stories, essays, and articles have appeared in gravel, The Citron Review, Everyday Fiction, CutBank, Elysian Fields Quarterly, Potomac Review, Shotgun Honey, juked, Slow Trains Journal, The State, News and Press, OC87 Diaries, and Portable Magic: The Authors First Anthology.

The reading will take place at 11:30 am and the workshop at 2:30 pm. Both events will be held in the Health Sciences Building 156, Shelby-Hoover Campus, 4600 Valleydale Road, Birmingham, AL 35242. Events are free and open to the public.
