As we are preparing for the publishing of our book, we would like to share some of the highlights of our stories and the direct contact we had as children with Dr. Martin Luther King,Jr., Commissioner Eugene (Bull) Connor, the KKK, the Birmingham Police Department, and the many endeavors we faced during those difficult times.
We will tell our unique stories through each of our eyes as we saw them. Although much of our stories differ, we shared the same experiences. Some live TV clippings and newspaper articles will be shared. We are writing this book for the ones who cannot imagine what it was like for blacks, especially in Birmingham, before the civil rights movement. Through song, marching, unity, and spiritual support we were able to keep going. Our goal is to motivate, encourage, and build humanity for us all. The participants may ask questions and/or express their views.
