February Meeting

February Meeting

Presented by Sierra Club (Cahaba Group) and Alabama Hiking Trail Society - Birmingham Chapter at Birmingham Zoo

Join us for a meeting of the Cahaba Group of the Sierra Club at 6:30p at the Birmingham Zoo’s Auditorium (in the angle roofed building to the right of the old ticket booth and original gate into the zoo).

The business meeting will begin at 6:00p and will be followed at 6:30p by a presentation by the Cahaba Riverkeeper.

The Riverkeeper will give us an update on the status of two recent and well-publicized events in the Cahaba watershed — the mysterious blue pollution in Griffin Creek in Homewood and the City of Birmingham’s recent channelization of Shades Creek near Elder Street — as well as some of the positive developments taking place in protecting the Cahaba watershed.

The Cahaba Riverkeeper primary functions are to monitor, investigate, patrol, and protect the Cahaba.

The Alabama Hiking Trail Society Metro Birmingham Chapter will have a brief meeting at 7:20p, following the presentation.
