“Very Soon We Will Be the Owners of the Enemy’s Food: The New Military History and the Mexican American War.”
Peter Guardino, a renowned historian from Indiana University. will present the annual Belton Cooper Lecture. His recent book on the Mexican-American war, The Dead March, has won acclaim for offering a new perspective on this war that led to Mexico ceding over half of its territory to the United States, including what is now Arizona, California, New Mexico, and Texas, and parts of Colorado, Nevada and Utah. Professor Guardino will challenge our common understanding of the war, its conduct, and its consequences.
