Reality Television and Music Stars appear in Upcoming Urban Stage Play
Birmingham’s Encore Theatre will soon play host to the all-star urban drama “What A Diva Won’t Do”

Birmingham, AL  — A new urban stage play immersed in soulful music and dramatic story lines with a unique all-star cast will soon appear at Birmingham’s newest performing arts center in the Roebuck Area.

The Story Line
A breadwinner has best been described as one whose earnings are the primary source of support for one’s dependents and/or a person supporting a family with his or her earnings. Although this title has historically been used to describe men, a new term has emerged for females who take the financial lead in their homes; she is the “Alpha Wife”. Alabama native and celebrated playwright Marc Raby has penned a new stage play entitled “What A Diva Won’t Do” with Wes Byrd serving as Musical Director of the production. The urban stage play surrounds Davina Brooks (Seviin Li) a successful “Alpha Wife” who is the primary breadwinner in her newly wedded relationship to her husband Dominique (Willie Taylor). The story tackles a highly climatic story line of escalating drama, much like that of a soap opera. Can Davina, a successful attorney find satisfaction in her non-traditional marriage with the man of her dreams, (minus the sizable bank account she prayed he would have)? Will temptation that better measures up to what she has always desired, be enough to bring an end to their otherwise picturesque marriage?

About The Cast
Raby, who is also directing the piece, has assembled a unique cast of both Actors, Singers and Reality TV Stars. Among the performers is R&B artist and former Broadway performer Tony Terry. Terry is an American soul/new jack swing singer from Washington, D.C., who has accrued many R&B hits through out his career. The eclectic cast includes the often high-spirited reality star Jackie Christie. Christie Stars on Vh1’s Basketball wives LA, Franchise. The Fashion Designer and author is also the Wife of Retired NBA Star Doug Christie. Willie Taylor a Chicago native and popular R&B singer and songwriter best known as a contestant from MTV’s Making the Band 4, where he was chosen by Diddy to be a member of the band Day26 , he plays Dominique Brooks. Additionally, Taylor joined the cast of the VH1 spin-off show Love & Hip Hop: Hollywood. Singer and Songwriter Seviin Li of Nelly’s Derrty Entertainment family and the highly successful stage play “Fool for Love” joins the cast as Davina Brooks. Comedic Actor and renowned vocal coach Wes Lee also appears in the production. Raby proudly adds that the star-studded show includes sensational local talent including Te’Shara Monique, Erika Kellom, Juna Givhan, Jamie McCarthy and Ernest Mitchell.
