Bo Bikes Bama

Bo Bikes Bama

Presented by Bo Bikes Bama at Auburn University Campus

BACKGROUND

Five hundred miles away from his home state, Bo Jackson watched in shock as a series of devastating tornadoes ripped through Alabama on April 27, 2011, claiming hundreds of lives and destroying countless homes. While many sat powerless to help, Bo knew he wanted to do something special for the people back home—and that’s where the Bo Bikes Bama story began.

EVENT

This is the 4th annual Bo Bikes Bama charity bike ride.  It started in 2012 as an ambitious 5-day, 300-mile bike ride following the tornadoes’ path of destruction.  Following the success of the first year, Bo decided to make it an annual one-day ride. This year’s ride will take place in Auburn, Alabama.

CAUSE & DONATIONS

Over the past three years, Bo Bikes Bama has provided nearly $800,000 to the Alabama Governor’s Emergency Relief Fund (GERF). The fund helped rebuild communities after storms and currently helps prepare the state for future disasters. To date, GERF has funded 57 safe rooms that will protect the lives of 6,116 Alabamians from future natural disasters. Donations can be made online at BoBikesBama.com.
