Seeing Things

Presented by Birmingham Museum of Art at Birmingham Museum of Art

“The way we see things is affected by what we know or what we believe.” John Berger

When you engage in the act of ‘seeing’, you do so through the lens of your own thoughts and beliefs. ‘Seeing’ is a unique experience. This selection of photographs encourages each of us to think about how we see the world. The images ask you to consider how what you see is altered by your thoughts, beliefs, and experience. What you see is not the same as what I see…

-Wassan Al-Khudhairi, Hugh Kaul Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art
