1st Haitian Flag Day Cultural Exchange Celebration

1st Haitian Flag Day Cultural Exchange Celebration

Presented by Haitian American Association of Alabama at Homewood Public Library

Haitian Flag Day (officially May 18) is a major national holiday in Haiti, where the flag is a symbol of great pride. The flag features the coat of arms of the Republic represented by a palm tree (symbolizing independence), and the legend In Union There is Strength. The Haitian American Association of Alabama (HAAOA) will be hosting Central Alabama’s own celebration on Saturday, May 19 from 5:00 pm until 10:00 pm at the Homewood Public Library at 1721 Oxmoor Road, Brimingham, AL 35209. The festivities are family-friendly, free, and open to all.

The event will feature art from Nixon Leger,  lecture from author Frantz Guerrier, and a fashion show by Guerda Pierre, CEO of Lordana Fashion Academy.  Traditional musical performances,  and a tasting of Haitian cuisine will be offered.
