The Birmingham Community Concert Band Association was founded in 1980. Its purpose is to promote the listening enjoyment of concert band music for the Greater Birmingham Area while providing local musicians an opportunity to get together to do what they love — play their instruments. It currently sponsors two groups: the Birmingham Community Concert Band and the Birmingham Wind Ensemble. Both groups rehearse weekly and perform several concerts at various times and locations throughout the year. The membership boasts a very diverse group of instrumentalists of all ages, backgrounds, professions, and ability levels.
