Midday Music: Charles Kennedy, harpsichord

Midday Music: Charles Kennedy, harpsichord

Presented by Cathedral Church of the Advent at Cathedral Church of the Advent

Charles Kennedy will perform a free, 30-minute recital on the Cathedral’s newly-acquired harpsichord. The harpsichord is a stringed keyboard instrument similar to the piano, but with the difference that the strings are plucked by pluckers, as opposed to be struck by hammers. The harpsichord was widely employed in the Renaissance and Baroque eras, with a great body of music written for it by composers such as William Byrd, Louis Couperin, J.S. Bach, and G.F. Handel. Kennedy is Associate Director of Music and Organist at the Cathedral Church of the Advent.
