Iron City Chef

Iron City Chef

Presented by Vestavia Hills Rotary Club at Holy Trinity-Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Cathedral

The Greek Orthodox American Hellenic Education Progressive Association (AHEPA) is partnering with the Vestavia Hills Rotary Club Iron City Chef event at the Greek Orthodox Cathedral Banquet Hall – Saturday, July 27th. The event begins at 6:00 PM.  The Iron City Chef event brings together Birmingham’s Top Chefs to create an appetizing and entertaining evening to support local and international Rotary programs and the AHEPA Scholarship Fund.

Expect a night of exquisite dining, entertainment, raffle drawings, and wine tastings. The competition stars four local chefs who prepare a protein, vegetable and dessert for the guests in attendance. Each chef will prepare their menu for guests to enjoy and vote on their favorite. The two chefs, with the most votes, will then compete head to head and work their magic on stage for judges to name the winner.

The four chefs chosen for this year’s competition are Chef Patrick McCown from Snapper Grabber’s Land and Sea, Chef Andrea Griffith from Pursell Farms, Chef Benard Tamburello from Vecchia Pizzeria and Mercato, and Chef Made Bali from Shiki Asian Cuisine.

The partnership with the Culinary and Hospitality Institute at Jefferson State Community College and Alabama’s 13, along with the generosity of the business community and guests has raised more than $150,000 over the past 10 years. Channel 13’s chief meteorologist, Jerry Tracey, will emcee the event.

Individual tickets are on sale for $55 each, while reserved and/or corporate tables are also available.  All the funds raised go to support the math and debate teams at Vestavia Hills City Schools, other Rotary charities, AHEPA Scholarship Funds,  and a culinary scholarship to Jefferson State.
