Guided Night Hike

Presented by Ruffner Mountain Nature Preserve at Ruffner Mountain Nature Center

Join us for a summer evening hike led by Dr. Pete Van Zandt, highlighting some of the flora, fauna, and natural processes of Alabama’s nocturnal world. This hike will be a slow paced, approx. mile-long hike with moderate to difficult inclines, beginning on the southern end of the Ridge and Valley Trail and culminating at the limestone quarry.

Dr. Pete Van Zandt is an evolutionary ecologist who studies how plants and insects interact with each other. He teaches field botany, ecology, and evolutionary ecology at Birmingham-Southern College.
