Birmingham, Alabama – For the first time in history, all six Historically Black College & University Marching Bands from the state of Alabama will face off at Legion Field for an action packed event that will amaze thousands. On September 15th 2019, these musicians and dancers will show and prove why they are among the best of the best in the nation!

Participating College Bands: Alabama State, Alabama A&M, Miles College, Stillman College, Talladega College, Tuskegee University.  In addition to these bands, all seven Birmingham City Public High School Bands will participate: Carver HS, Parker HS, Wenonah HS, Jackson-Olin HS, Woodlawn HS, Huffman HS and Ramsay HS.

Prior to the Battle, a College Fair will begin at 2PM. Be sure to come out and speak with representatives from all 6 colleges and universities.  These college representatives will assist with applying to the schools, obtaining financial aid, and offering additional information about their institutions. A great opportunity for graduating High School Juniors and Seniors.

The event is being organized by Eddie Evans, owner of the Band Media company, MeetMeOnThe50 LLC.  Mr. Evans was a bandsman himself, serving as Drum Major at the Morgan State University in Baltimore, MD.  He would later start Meet Me On The 50 LLC, a Band geared YouTube Platform that hosts virtual band battles and live reactions. “The idea to organize the Battle for Birmingham actually came from one of my virtual battles hosted on my channel about a year ago.  It’s amazing to see this virtual concept come to realization and I’m very excited to bring this major event to the state of Alabama.” Evans said.
