“Purchase With a Purpose” Open House Shopping Event, sponsored by the Optimist Club of Birmingham to benefit youth in the community and promote Breast Cancer and Domestic Violence Awareness Month, will take place in the Family Life Center Gym at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 980 Huffman Rd., Birmingham, AL 35215, on Sunday, October 6, 2-5 p.m. .  The event will feature a wide variety of vendors, silent auction and raffle, food, and door prizes. Miss Alabama 2013 Chandler Champion and local recording artist Jessica Lloyd will serve as emcee’s and provide live musical entertainment for all to enjoy! It will be a great time to shop for Fall and Thanksgiving, shop early for Christmas and birthday gifts, or purchase something special for yourself!

Proceeds will support programs sponsored by the Club, such as providing Christmas gift cards for foster teens, Scholarship Contests, serving meals at Ronald McDonald House for seriously ill children and their families, providing improvements to the playground for the women and children at Olivia’s House, and much more! Concession stand sales, including hamburgers, hotdogs, sausages, and steak sandwiches along with other treats, will be provided by “Queen City Chili” to benefit “MissionS of Kindness.”  Fresh squeezed lemonade, smoothies and a variety of other concessions will also be available for purchase. Pre-order your pecans and chocolate covered pecans for all of your Thanksgiving and Christmas holiday baking needs from the Optimist Club!
