The Birmingham Urban League will be honoring the positive contributions made by 13 African American female judges in Central Alabama.
The National Urban League is a renown historic civil rights organization passionate about impacting the lives of residents all over the nation through intentional efforts of economic empowerment, equality, and social justice. This holiday season the Birmingham Urban League will continue to help further that mission as they host the 2019 Equal Opportunity Dinner, Getting 2 Equal: United Not Divided, an annual gala that recognizes community leaders’ contributions towards advancing inclusivity and equal opportunity for all on December 6, 2019, with a reception set to begin at 6:00 p.m. and dinner following at 7:00 p.m.
Thirteen African American female judges will be honored for prestigiously performing their civic duties within the Jefferson County Court system. They are: Elizabeth French – Brendette Brown Green – Marshell Jackson Hatcher – Tamera Harris Johnson – Javan Joielle Patton – Carol Smitherman – Shanta Owens – Patricia Stephens – Nakita R. Blocton – Agnes Chappell – Janine Hunt Hilliard and Shera Grant.
