He will explore different types of pigments, paints, grounds, color mixing and mediums. You will learn how to extend paint to save money and how to mix paints with mediums to create unique textural surfaces. Phil will show you how to make your own surfaces for watercolor, graphite, charcoal, colored pencil and oil and soft pastels. Techniques for the use of iridescent and metallic paints, the light fastness of pigments, varnishing tips and safety concerns will also be covered.
