These two one-acts are sure to conjure images of our southern landscape. Graceland takes place at the front entrance of the late Elvis Presley’s mansion three days before the estate is to be opened to the public. Two ardent Presley fans, Bev and Rootie, each determined to be the first to enter the sacred precincts, progress from dispute to growing compassion and shared confidences. Asleep on the Wind is the prequel to Graceland, taking place ten years prior in a small clearing in Bayou Teche, Louisiana, the “special place” that Rootie refers to in the other play. This is where Rootie and her favorite brother, Beau, frequently come to talk in private and where the shy and reclusive Rootie comes to escape the outside world. Both touching and evocative, these vignettes are a warm-hearted and charming look at the human experience. Directed by Henry Scott
