Stephen Karam’s comedy/drama, Sons Of The Prophet, follows the Douaihy family as they persevere through a hard year. Joseph and Charles, two gay brothers, and their elderly Uncle Bill, all distantly related to the Lebanese poet Kahlil Gibran, meet life’s challenges head on. The brothers mourn their father’s death while Joseph struggles with a medical mystery, and Uncle Bill faces the dark country of assisted living. Stephen Karam writes dialogue that is smart, beautiful, realistic—and laugh out loud funny. His characters are so interesting you cannot help but fall in love with (most) of them.
