The July Bards & Brews will be an Open Mic event at the Vestavia Hills Library in the Forest. As always, Master of Ceremonies Brian “Voice Porter” Hawkins will deftly guide both novice and veteran poets through an evening of verse with topics that can include relationships, politics, social justice, and whether the skillful use of puns is an art or a science.
Beer tasting will be available courtesy of Grayton Beer Company.
The Murder of Jane Crow will be performing songs from their upcoming album begining at 6:30pm!
Bards & Brews is a spoken word poetry performance/beer tasting event hosted by the Birmingham Public Library usually held on the first Friday of each month except December. Slams are held quarterly in January, April, July, and October; the other sessions are open mic. The event is emceed by performance artist and poetry events director Voice Porter. Live musical performances are held before the poetry performances begin. Craft beer is donated by breweries from around the region. The staff from J. Clyde usually pours for the evening. You must be 18 or over to attend, and 21 or over to drink. Bring your ID. Come early, as these events are well attended.
