It’s the early 1960’s in Baltimore and teenager Tracy Turnblad discovers she lives in a world that tells her plus-sized gals shouldn’t dance and racial segregation is here to stay. When she earns a spot as a dancer on The Corny Collins Show Tracy becomes a star and launches a plan with her friends to use her newfound fame to integrate the teen dance show. Director Marcus Lane plans to honor John Waters’ original subversive vision for the story in a wildly joyful production that celebrates how we can change the world we live in.
