Organized in October 2001, Embellishments is a civic handbell ensemble based in Birmingham, Alabama. This group consists of 17 auditioned musicians, directed by Phyllis Kirk. Members include 8 directors of handbell choirs. Embellishments plays seven octaves of Schulmerich Bells including one of the largest bass bells in Alabama, seven octaves of Malmark Chimes, two octaves of Petit and Fritsen bells, and various other instruments. Open auditions are held every January. Experience in ringing bells, knowledge of techniques and music reading ability are required.
