Join us for a second edition of our virtual acting workshop with Virginia Newcomb!
Virginia Newcomb will guide a streaming class inspired by her work with Strasberg’s method and her explorations in improv for cinema. Actors are uniquely equipped to adapt during uncertainty. Virginia’s experience working in different regions and much of that on the road, provides perspective on nesting a space for creativity wherever you may be placed or displaced. Emphasis will be on routines of self expression, self creation, and sharing the benefits of acting techniques with others. There’s an opportunity to invigorate our attention on relaxation, preparation, observation of the private moment and sensory work. We’ll also explore improvisational tools to connect with our physical, mental, and emotional impulses.
This can be taken on its own (apart from the first class on April 16) or in addition to the first class – Virginia will structure the class so that all participants are caught up.
We’re utilizing a pay-what-you-can model for this class with three different price levels to allow the maximum number of people to participate in light of COVID-19. Sidewalk is a 501c3 nonprofit organization.
You do not have to take the first class to understand what’s going on in the 2nd class, or you can take them both! Either way works. Participants will be emailed a Zoom link 15 minutes before the workshop’s start time.
