Guys and gals, this will be a launch party to remember. The official times on the IFPA website are “practice starts 10:00 am, [Spiderman] tourney starts at 12 noon”. That may be a little closer to 10:30/12:30. The GB’s and SMVE will be on free-play. Everyone will have approx 2 hours of practice time, then qualifying begins. This will be a better/longer format tournament than we usually run with a launch party.

Here are the specifics…

Entry fee $5.
Everyone will get two qualifying attempts on GB, one on EACH machine. Those two scores will be added together to get your qualifying score. All qualified players will then playoff in groups of 4 with PAPA scoring(4,2,1,0) on 3 machines.
The 3 machines will consist of GB, SMVE, and a third game chosen at random from the following: IM, TWD, MET, TRON, GOT, KISS, WOF. Two players from each group will advance to the next round. Tie-breakers will be a single game drawn randomly from all games used in the tourney.
Prizes will be 40%, 30%, 20%, 10% plus some Stern swag.

Per IFPA rules, the qualifying portion must reduce the field by at least 50%. So the number of qualifiers depends on how many players are in the tourney, as follows: 

48 or more players = 24 will qualify with top eight receiving a bye.
32-47 players = 16 will qualify
24-31 players =  12 will qualify with top 4 receiving a bye
16-23 players = 8 will qualify

How long will this tourney last, you ask?  If you fail to qualify you’ll probably be done by 2-3pm. If you make it into the playoffs all the way to final 4, it could be 6:30-7pm.
