West African Drumming Class

West African Drumming Class

Presented by Get Rhythm!® at The Dance Foundation

Djembe class is much more than what it seems. It’s more like a family, even if you are taking only one 6 week class. Class is made up of people from all walks of life who have a desire to learn in a friendly, supportive, and non judgmental environment.

Students learn the rhythms from Guinea, West Africa and it’s surrounding countries. John has been a student of Grand Master, Mamady Keita.

Mamady Keïta is a grand master of the djembe and one of the world’s most well-known and respected djembefolas. (Djembefola is the Malinké word for “djembe player”. It literally means “one who plays the djembe.”)

John’s djembe class is a direct reflection of the teachings and spirit of the djembe as taught by Mamady Keita

Admission Info

This is a six week class. Class fee is $110 (without drum) and $145 (w/rental drum)
