The MLK Day 5K Drum Run is a fun and active event to celebrate the MLK Day holiday weekend. Since its 2012 inception in Atlanta, GA, the race has grown to over 2000 runners/walkers and featured over 200 drummers from metro area schools and groups.

Annually the race features a lineup of drumline musicians from Birmingham area schools and organizations that will perform along the full race course to motivate runners and walkers as they make their way. This year we will bring you the sound of the drumline in an electronic format as you make your way along your 5K route. Also, each drumline will receive a donation to their band booster association.

The soundtrack will also include our pre-race activities such as music, warm-up and inspiration that makes this holiday great. With the 5th Annual race being VIRTUAL, we are inviting the world to take part. We will provide a safe social distanced alternative from our in person event which will still include a warm up, music, timing through popular online apps, sponsors and the race goodie bag including the official MLK DAY 5K Drum Run shirt and medal for all race entrants.
