Women United Launch Party

Women United Launch Party

Presented by United Way of Central Alabama, Inc. at Brasfield & Gorrie

United Way of Central Alabama, Inc. is relaunching an effort that will celebrate, reposition — and promote in bigger, bolder ways — the critical work women are leading in Central Alabama.

The Women United  launch party will be held Wednesday, May 4, 2016, 5:00 pm at Brasfield & Gorrie, 3021 7th Avenue South, Birmingham, AL 35233. Planning committee members are Lessie Brady, Denise Canfield, Mittie Cannon, Jill Deer, Shirley Fagan, Eleanor Griffin, Ann Haas, Kimberly Jackson, KoKo Mackin, Carla Robertson and Lindsay Sinor.

Women United will also announce its new signature effort, “ Project Welcome Home”, a partnership with United Way’s Individual Development Account Program (IDA) and Habitat for Humanity to provide essential household items to new women homeowners. The women have committed their savings, $2,000, for their home down payment and have little left to buy essential household items most take for granted.   As the program grows, Women United and Project Welcome home will provide big ticket items such as appliances.

Women United is a community of women giving at the leadership levels of $1,000 or more each year to United Way of Central AL.  Its mission is to inspire, educate and motivate women to become positive change-agents within the community through philanthropy, leadership and volunteerism.
