Have you ever noticed those little bands on some birds’ legs? Learn all about banding and what you can do if you see a banded bird.
Bird banding has been used to study birds as early as the 1600s. Today, researchers can use highly accurate GPS transmitters to follow birds across the globe, yet banding is still widely used in research and conservation. In this online course, our Science & Conservation Director will discuss how and why researchers use banding to study birds, show you several examples of banding projects, and tell you how to report a sighting of a banded bird.
Pre-registration is required by 12 p.m. CDT Monday, July 12th, and space is limited.
