David Baker Architects will present their work in Ensley with Zimmerman & TriStar. They are transforming the old Ensley High School into a development of apartments, a grocery store, other amenities, and 15,000 sq. feet of commercial space.
David Baker Architects, an AIA Birmingham Member, will be presenting their work in Ensley with Zimmerman Properties. They have significant plans to transform the former Ensley High School in to a new development of 244 apartments scaled to complement the neighborhood. The development also includes a grocery store in the old gymnasium, a clubhouse, and other amenities designed to serve the community. It will also house 15,000 square feet of commercial space.
The will also discuss their partnership with TriStar, an Atlanta-based nonprofit organization that works to reduce transiency through collaboration with landlords. They aim to keep rents within reach of those who live in “affordable and workforce housing communities. Star-C will provide “wraparound” services such as educational, wellness, and gardening programs for folks in the Ensley area.
