The Magic City is back to the future and we are throwing our first in-person party to celebrate! Join us for drinks, music, and a little bit of magic as we honor Afrofuturism in the Magic City, inspired by iconic artist and Birmingham native, Sun Ra.

Get in the Mix! // Shure Shot DJs Suaze and DJ Rahdu will set the vibe with soulful tunes all evening long.

Sun Ra Film Screening  // Check out the 1972 afrofutruist science fiction film Space is the Place by legendary musician and Birmingham native, Sun Ra.

Galactic Eyewear Art Making // We’ll provide the supplies you provide the creativity to make custom eyewear perfect for traveling the cosmos with the intergalactic solar arkestra.

Art Hunt // Get some facetime with your favorite works of art on our smartguide scavenger hunt! Find all the artworks that inspire the legendary Birmingham-based jazz composer Sun Ra and his Arketra and we’ll reward you with a special prize.

Ready for some Magic? // Local Magician Jo Mayhall has some tricks up his sleeve to keep you wonderstruck and spellbound.

Good People Vote // The future is here! Raise your voice on what matters in the Magic City. We’ll have staff on hand to assist with voter information, registration, and some hands-on art activities to encourage voter participation.
