Join Drew Haffenden for this course focusing on the changes we see in identifying fall shorebirds and terns.
This continuation of our spring shorebird course focuses on the changes we see in terns, shorebirds, and other beach and mudflat birds in fall—when both adults molting from breeding into non-breeding plumage and juvenile birds can be an ID challenge.
Join Drew Haffenden for this two-week course looking at a range of species—including peeps to larger shorebirds such as red knot; terns in juvenile plumage as well as perennial difficulties such as Forster’s and common; and some of the trickier herons and egrets. In addition to actual ID points we’ll discover helpful steps to get to an ID in the field.
This course is meant to be both beginner-friendly as well as informative for more advanced birders.
Pre-registration is required by 12 p.m. CDT on Monday, September 6th, and space is limited. Visit https://alaudubon.org/event/2021-09-07/ for more information and to register.
Your one-time registration fee of $20 covers the two meetings.* (While you are not required to attend each class, do note that we cannot refund individuals for partial attendance.) We will be recording the webinar and making it available to participants for a week after the class. *We understand there are economic barriers that many are facing during this time.
